The Department of General Management and Human Resource Management evolved from the Department of Business. The department operates with the philosophy that staying current with management and human resource management knowledge and skills are critical for individuals and organisations to be effective and efficient in today's society. This informs the department’s teaching, research and programmes.
The Department of Accounting and Procurement and Supply Chain Management recognises the fact that knowledge and skills in financial accounting and procurement and supply are prerequisites for sound financial management and efficient resourcing of organisations. While contributing to and disseminating knowledge, the department is also practitioner-focused and provides professional skills development relevant for the digital economy.
The overarching goal of the Hospitality and Tourism Department is to prepare students who have chosen hospitality and tourism as their career for management positions and leadership roles. This goal is accomplished through a commitment to student learning and development marked by high expectation and standards of conduct and performance; excellence in research and instruction; and exposure of students to the industry and successful industry professionals.
